Prompting patterns that get useful coaching, and how to control what Sage is looking at.
How to ask Sage well
Sage answers best when you point it at something specific: a trade, a window of time, a ticker, or a concept. Vague questions get vague coaching.
Anchor the review
Open Sage from the thing you want reviewed. The Review action on a trade, a watch idea, a journal entry, or your weekly thesis opens Sage already pointed at that item, so you can just say what you want to know.

Recall by ticker
Sage can pull two kinds of context for a ticker you name:
- Pulse — the Pulse-detected institutional activity and positioning on that ticker.
- Strat — the current structure read: candle types, timeframe continuity, key levels.
When it does, a Pulse: or Strat: pill appears under the context line with the ticker. Tap the ✕ on a pill to stop Sage referencing that ticker for the rest of the conversation.
The transparency chip
When you open Sage on a chart, watchlist, ticker hub, or your trade log, a chip shows what it is looking at — for example Sage sees: NVDA · 65m, or Sage sees: your NVDA idea + your setup. If you change the chart while chatting, an Update to … button offers the new view; the chip does not follow you silently.
Tap the ✕ on the chip to detach that context for the conversation. Start a new conversation and Sage re-pins to wherever you are now.
Teach me
Ask for a concept directly: explain a fail 2u, what is timeframe continuity, show me an order block. Sage defines it from the AdexTrades library, credits the session it is citing, and where one exists, shows the concept diagram.
What not to ask
Anything that ends in a direction. Should I buy this, where is it going, what is the target — Sage will decline the call and turn the question back into a process question. That is the coaching.
